Do I want 35L or 24L?

I know there's a big difference in field of view and personal preference, but which should I get? I'm leaning towards the 35L...
If anyone has compared both, is one faster focusing than the other? Which one in general has better corner sharpness?
I have a 5D.

I've seen both lens archives, and both have some beautiful pictures.

35L is generally claimed to have better overall sharpness. However, I would get the 24L if using a cropped body.

So the 35L doesn't have a UD element, but the 24L does?

I got the 35L a few weeks ago, from what I shot, I love it. A 24L will be in the bag with it, in a few months. You can always rent both to see what you want, but I think you'll be pleased with the 35.

I just started using the 24L prime on my 5D and love it...I'm planning on going for the 35L maybe in a few months once the pocketbook recovers. Just not wild about the 72mm filter size for the 35L since almost all of my lenses are 77mm. Minor nit, but a PITA since I'm not a fan of step rings.

35L is amazing!

It's all about focal length. Yes the 35L is sharper but what does that matter if you don't like the FL?

I've never owned the 24L but I used to own a 35L and I'll be buying another this spring. I adore the lens. My 2nd favorite behind the 135L.

Of course when I want it, Amazon does not appear to have it in stock for 1-2 months haha.

Why would you buy this from Amazon? There are a lot of great places you can get it online that are cheaper and offer superior/as-good service.

I have Amazon prime, so I get free 2 day. That's faster than most other places and cheaper.
And... Amazon is the cheapest place right now. Plus you can manipulate your recommendations and get 5% off extra on stuff, so I ordered one for $1057 with no tax and free 2 day shipping. That's a lot cheaper than anywhere else.

So why wouldn't I buy from Amazon?

Adorama and BH both sell it at $1119 + shipping.
Beach doesn't have it.

Please tell me somewhere that is selling a USA version for cheaper.

The 35L is a fantastic lens, really stellar in length and in image quality.

I love both on the 5D. Hard question but if I could only have one lens it would be the 35 because I could shoot everything, if I had to, with it. Actually the 24 is sharper from 2-5.6 that the 35. The 35 is sharper wide open. But they're both killier sharp.

Wish I didn't live in Washington so I could get tax free gear from amazon I have "prime" too and it would be so nice....I'm way too impatient to use the standard shipping for free from Adorama, and usually spend the $ at B&H or Adorama on the next day shipping.
Now....on the subject
I think overall........The 35L is THE best prime I've owned, it is just fast, sharp and very predictable....It's my top lens on a 1.3 or 1.6 crop guess I just love the 50mm range for a walkaround......and when I want the shot and it's near wide to normal range, I put it on my 5D...great on the 5D for inside the house or smaller spaces, such as a low light no flash birthday party lens. I've never used the 24L but hear similar things about it.....Depending on what other gear you own, choose on FL between these two, I think neither will dissapoint
