If Canon can tell us from just a file, then it has to be in the EXIF somewhere, but I have never heard of this.
I have heard it, or rather read it here and there, which may be why I now question everything twice.

Basically reverse engineer the EOS utility, because that can write out the owner name, etc to the camera, and the shutter count would most likely be stored in memory very similiar to the owner name, etc. There are probably getter/setter methods that can be invoked to retrieve alot of this "technician data".
