I'm wondering if the design of the claddagh rings are copyrighted. I don't mean a specific ring, but the whole concept of the crown, heart and hands. I am guess no as otherwise there wouldn't be tons of jewellery designers designing their own rings?

Just found this:

As it is a 'traditional' design, I would take that to mean it is not copywritable.

Uncopyrightable: the longest word in the English language that doesn't repeat a letter.

I rarely see it used.

That's what I thought. Cool, then I can draw my own version without having some weirdo sue me. :p

I'm a 3rd generation Irish but never lived in the Old Country.

My great-great grandparents were born in Ireland and my great grandparents were pure Irish, but my fore bearers have pretty well polluted the blood line since then.

Not than even a pure blooded Masai is actually a pure blood... we're all mutts in one way or another.
