Thanks Hatch, I've been reading the thread and it looks like a fun group of folks. I wish I'd found this thread earlier.

Lots of nice people in the group. I've learned a lot from them. Keep watching the thread... I think there is a group shoot in the works?

Do you you have a gallery? What do you like to shoot?

I'm a macro nut... I enjoy sports photography as well. But... I will shoot most anything :)

Hatch! Awesome shots! Sorry I missed you and Adam 'the younger' there. I had a great time with Steve and met Geoff and Adam 'the older'. Great festival.

I think I got a bit too much vitamin D. I didn't really burn per se, but got home about 6:15 after meeting the wife for a bite to eat and made the mistake of laying down. Over 2.5 hours later, I am finally back to the computer to upload and see what I have. Yikes.

Welcome aboard Jim!

I just started to put together a gallery on Flickr.

I'm like you, I like to shoot everything. I especially enjoy wildlife, concerts and landscapes. I go to Country Thunder in Florence every year in April and usually get some great concert shots. I'd really like to learn how to shoot some Macro shots.

Here are some from the Matsuri. The first is a blown out sky backlighting a dancer (who was performing in semi-shade).

The second is a basically the same shot only changing the focus point (two Koto players, the lady in the black kimono is the remaining member of Kokin Gumi - this years Matsuri is dedicated to the memory of the Leader of Kokin Gumi - Masakazu Yoshizawa).

Hello Arizona POTN

Good morning everyone,
My name is Dana, I am new to this thread again, having found it awhile ago, (thanks to Tammi O) and then having my computer die an ugly death.... loosing all my contacts, favorites, and links etc.... Any how.
Met Steve and one other at the Matsuri Festival, (sorry, HORRIBLE with names:oops:) and enjoyed shooting (with the camera:lol:) the dancers. Got some nice pics. Any suggestions on size limit for posting?
Looking forward to any and all feedback on pics, as well as getting to meet everyone in the near future. Great time of year to get out.
Have a great day everyone!!

I just got done looking at your gallary. Looks like you enjoy a lot of macro. Any suggestions on macro lenses?

Hi Dana,

I was the one you met with Steve...don't feel bad, I'm horrible with names myself. The only reason I recognized your post was your mentioning of a horrible computer death when we met :). Anyway, glad to see you in here.

I concur with Hatch, a LOT of background clutter on most all of my shots from the festival. It's pretty much going to be that way in crowded events without total freedom of shooting angles so it is to be expected I guess. I have a couple decent shots I need to post with some basic PP. Not sure if I'm going back today now as my wife has too much writing to do today :(.

Terry, this post sure has been a hit. I bet you had no idea when you posted a single message that it'd go on for years!
