Powershot a700, thinking about a G9 but the wife really likes the a700 so, might have to get a backup DSLR first.....Which is cool for me

I've seen some pretty good cameras mentioned in this thread. However, when you have a wife that doesn't know squat about cameras and wants to buy you something for your birthday, you end up with an HP 1.5MP piece of battery-eating junk.

Can you say sutter delay?

Can you say 15 seconds of boot time?

You can even get 10 "high quality" pictures on an 8meg (that's megs) card.

However, because of the "mistakes" above and this group, I now have a 20D (thinking about adding a 1Ds Mark III or EF500mm F4.0) plus a 17-40, 50-1.4, 70-200 F2.8 IS, 100-400, RSS 55 Ball Head, Gitzo GT3530SLV, plus Crump. 7 Million, 1.4X, 2X tele-extender.

So I guess everything was even in the end.

Jake

We're neighbors, I'm in Burien...Cheers!

I have an SD700 IS that I picked up used. It's a great complement to my photo stash.

Sony DSC W1S (external link), from 2004. I seem to remember paying a ridiculous amount of money (more than £100/$200) for a 512MB memory stick.

I still use it from time to time (when I can't be bothered getting my SLR out) and it does have a movie mode (which is occasionally useful).

Canon SD550. Takes excellent photos so long as the subject isn't moving quickly.

Had a Canon s20 that died for reasons unknown, then a Pro-1, which isn't really a p+s, lovely pics though at ISO100, only reason I got the 30D was the shutter lag was getting on my nerves. Feels like one of those credit card sized cams after the 30D+grip+24-70 f2.8,
