[AP]Red, awesome capture. It reminds me of yin & yang. The left side is the dark side and the Right side is good side then the foreground is neutral. I like it a lot!!!

Beautiful image!! Just curious how many images was this comprised from? Or is this a pseudo HDR?

So I was understanding correctly from the beginning about doing them in RAW.

I was using Photomatrix Pro.

Since they came out ok when done in JPEG, do you think it could possibly be a ram issue?

Well these two images are NOT true HDR. They are pseudo HDR. But the original file shot was in raw. Using lightroom i took the raw file made -2,0,+2 from the raw and exported them as jpegs. Then i did it once more exporting them in original form. Now i took the jpegs in photomatix and did a quick playing of the levels then saved it. Then i took the cr2 files and ran them through photomatix, colorspace srgb as hot then used the same levels from the jpeg image and saved.

Here is the cr2 files turned into pseudo HDR.

Now from the looks of it the RAW file have more color to them when turned into an HDR image and pop a bit more. Nothing else was done to the images other then a resize to 1024max. Both images were saved as 8bit out of photomatix.

This was just a quick test and nothing else. Just wanted to show the difference between RAW and jpegs when used in HDR. Now the results of a true HDR image compiled from different exposure from the camera might also add to the difference. :)

You guys do such beautiful work, and I just do not understand how... How's it even possible? I drove around today looking for something to catch my eye to photograph with this HDR in mind. I took some pretty nice looking shots, (though I took them out my truck window). I was just trying to get something to play with in Photomatix. Everything came out crappy compared to the ones posted here.

have you tried using dynamic photo HDR software?...i've only tried HDR once...but the images that i got from using photomatix...were really blue/dark and dull...i used the dynamic photo software and achieved better results...might be worth a shot?

Trish,
That was compiled from 3 images ( -2/0/+2 ) dropped in photomatix pro and finished in PS CS3.... and thank you for the compliments.

Aloha,
