That market place sky almost looks fake.

I picked up mine in September and LOVE it! I do at times feel guilty for using it so much.

Amazing picture! BRAVO! But yeah... I think the sky needed a better masking job :-D If is real after all then you go some amazing weird effect going on... CPL?

Now that I got another look at it it looks like you took it from another exposure 1 or 1.5 EV darker... I think if you just brightened the clouds a bit it'll look much better... But still - AMAZING picture!

CeBIT? I don't know about that... personally, I am much more excited about going to WPPI in Vegas - though you might run into some of my old friends there! Funny. Please have a Brez'n for me. Nothing here comes even close! I miss those!

What's in September?

Actually it was quite nice... I am sort of a geek myself (nevermind the social sciences career path and academia ) and there were some really cool things to see there. It is also quite huge... Apparently it's the biggest IT show in the world - I didn't know until today...

And yeah, the biggest photo fair in the world is also in Germany, Photokina in Cologne... I was there last year and boy... there's another thing I absolutely love in Germany  230 000 sq. m. of pure photography - can't beat that!!! EVERYBODY who has something to do with photography was there! Even some garage companies from China and India who make equipment as good as some brand names (probably reverse engineered ) for 1/10 of the price!

Talking about Chinese companies... The German police (180 officers to be more precise :-D) confiscated hundreds of thousands of euro worth of merchandise at CeBIT yesterday because it was supposedly "pirated" copies of brand name products! Now, there's a show for ya! :-D

Btw. I will post some pics in a while... got some OKish shots with the 10-22 at CeBIT today...

Cheers!

Sorry bigb, I didn't use a smiley. That was taken in Las Vegas, indoors. If you look closely in the upper left area of the sky you can see the "ceiling".

I was trying to be witty.

No no, that;s not the lenses fault, he must have one of those B&W compact flash cards..

Or he could have a B&W Monitor....ever think of that...;)

Could have just been a "18% gray" day.

Alright. Picture Time! C&C more than welcome, even though you should keep in mind these are just documentary shots and also meant to demonstrate how amazingly horrible the goddamn lens is

I almost deleted the second picture, because it looked really bad with the washed out sky and everything... but then I said: 'let me play around with it a bit'... I think I actually like it now ;)

Check it out: the craplens can take extreme close-ups too!!! Naah, actually the keyboard and the mouse are ginormous - just about the right size for me

In the second picture you can see a new marketing strategy utilized by a lot of exhibitors at CeBIT. Someone had the genius idea to super size merchandise bags and thus dramatically increase the effect of their ads - clever...

Novel had a pretty cool booth at CeBIT... Some designer furniture, a bar that served some amazing espresso and some great colors :-)

Why do I care about Novell? They run the openSuSE project. Windows is doomed, it's just a matter of time ;-)a

Not a CeBit shot actually...

This is the main station in Bremen. It's a sucky shot - I just wanted to see what I can do with the 10-22 in low light. This is ISO 3200, f/8 at 1/8 s... Pretty goddamn crappy! I hate the thing

That is an incredible shot you have. Just one question, how do you take a 275 second exposure and not get star trails???

....and that's another thing I don't like about the 10-22mm, it doesn't send any EXIF info to the camera body. :p

This lens rocks; no doubt about it; I really need to use it more, but the IS on the 17-55 makes the 10-22 get used less....
