Don't know how to improve it... don't think I want to crop it, I could edit out the skyscraper although I'm not sure whether that would add or subtract.

I am tempted to try and draw attention to the girl, but I also think that it sticks out immediately.

I think if I photoshop the column it would seperate the industrial left side to the more touristy right side of the picture... I could also bring out the stain and decay around the picture of the girl

I would do just what you are thinking of,crop to the street lamp..and then bring out the colors.

you're a great friend, but if Zombies chase us, I am tripping you.

That is indeed what I want but I like your crop as well. I've also got another to highlight the girl...

Defiantly like LD's crop the most. I like the contrast between the 'personality' of the girl on the old building and the clean cold modern building. Plus it aligns the girl and modern building at two powerpoints as opposed to her being in the middle of the picture.

I know it's too late to talk about the composition, but could the photo have been taken so that the girl would have been looking into something i.e. by taking two steps forward and three to your left and then take a shot in portrait orientation?
Just a proposition :)

Extra batteries / Rocket blower / Small tripod

Think I'd largely agree, LDs crop is excellent framing but it takes from the urban decay on the left which I also like in the larger picture.

I prefer the original although also suspect that LDs crop has greater mass appeal

i am new to the critique but i think i would have steped back and to the right and got more of the garage door and taging and the girl would still pop the rest of the street is distracting

I also agree with NE Time, if you wanted the decay look, you should have got closer to the garage door and used the 'lines' of the garage door as lead in lines to the subject (being the girl). I still think the original is a good picture though, good find!
