I'd go for a combo:

First: have some youtube fun with it to make people go nuts when they see it. Bathing it in a bathtub, taking it for a walk on a leash, standing on a chair and using it as a golf tee, bunt a basepall with it, etc

Second: Drop it a few times in front of other photogs at various events

In the end I'd keep it in some sort of creative display, if you have a big fish tank, I like the idea of selling off useable parts and dropping it in there.

I suggest you make some kind of sappy love tribute for it and you.... You know, like a slideshow/movie with you at it dating, eating at a fancy eating joint, engagment, wedding, honey moon, etc...

And put it on you tube..........:p

Find a place with a BUNCH of photographers. Go pretend to shoot.

Get very angry. Smash it in to tiny little bits right in front of said photographers.

Videotape it - and them.

Do not tell them ever.

Post video here.

It will be *legendary*

I'm laughing, a lot, but I like the papparazzi thing the best, or work out an act with the star to have them trash the lens, it'd be in all the tabloids, I bet you could get Mr. T to do it or Sylvester.
