Sharp, reason number 1.

Great low light focus and SUPER FAST FOCUS! Reason number 2.

Amazing DOF, reason number 3.

But you do have a good amount of primes... This thing is great for shoulder/head shots! Oh and action shots too. I took it to the dog park yesterday. The thing keeps up with dogs running at you full speed.

I have been lurking all over the POTN's to watch this lens, see if someone is trying to sell a used one or when the American rebates come out. Anyone know anything about the rebates? I'm definitely going to get this one-just a matter of when and from who. Been toying with the idea of going with Beach Camera but have been holding back since I have heard some unhappiness with their return policy. I would also like to order the hood at the same time and noticed that they do not sell the Canon hood for this lens. Have any of you purchased the one they list and are you happy with it?

I don't think you can find a newer one for a price lower than 315.

Even used I've seen ppl on here still try to sell theirs for 320+ and thats USED.

food for thought.

If I remember correctly, I think $315 is the price from the last rebate (regular price $340 - $25 rebate). Heck, I saw it briefly on Amazon for $320, and I thought that was a great deal--so I HAD to jump at $315! :D

I also ordered the Canon ET65III hood and a UV filter from Amazon, also with free shipping. I love me some free shipping!

I realize this is a good price but have heard a few horror stories from people who were charged shipping and restocking fees when trying to return bad lenses from Beach Camera (buydigs.com). I know that those chances are small, but don't want to be that unlikely one. That is the only reason I have held off on this deal-not the great price because it does look good. That plus I was just hoping I could also get the hood from them but I could not find the ET65III listed on their site. B&H was willing to match the $315 price on the lens but will still charge for shipping. I also want to get the hood and a B+W MRC haze filter to go along with this lens. Was going to get those 2 items from Amazon since the S/H was free for the hood through Amazon but the filter is sold through Adorama. Was really hoping to buy the whole setup at one place and save on shipping but doesn't look like that is going to work out:( Or at least the lens and hood at one spot and then the filter at one of the discount filter sites.

Yes they did but they would also add shipping to the cost. So it will be $315 plus another $10 for shipping. So I thought I would just buy the whole lot from them but their filter prices are much higher than I have seen elsewhere.
