Have you tired a 1.4x TC on your 70-200 yet? Don't sell it until you have.

I wouldn't...I don't think you'll end up with better IQ (even with a tc on it).

If you need 420mm more than 280 and IS I'd go for it. I'm sure theres some comparisons about, check LightRules's website..

Make sure your 1.4x TC will fit Sigma lens - I have Canon's EF 2X II and it's not compatible with any of my Sigmas.

If you need 400 - sell the lens and get a 100-400L IS.

the telecon on the 70-200 is OK, but it does slow the AF down and the lens is f/5.6 at that point.

I won't because the lens is great for outdoor portraits and sporting events. Landscapes with more narrower object framing.

I think 100-400 IS L would be better choice if you are looking for a longer lens. Sigma 100-300 is a very good lens but adding a TC will decrease the image quality. Regarding 70-200 4.0 - I sold mine because it was to slow for my needs. If I had the 100-300 or 100-400 IS I would not keep the 70-200 any more.
