Visiting my sister here in Florida and noticed an orchid on her lanai. I made some images, but didn't really know what I was doing.

I have a couple more days here, and would welcome advice on how to improve these - composition, framing, exposure.

Images are straight from the CF card, as I want to show them as they were captured.

thanks.

Just need some small adjustments in the evp and contrast.
I tweaked the 1st one a little along those lines.

That looks much better. May I ask the procedure used? (Only if you have time, thanks).

Edit: I'm drawing a blank on 'evp'

Yea probably cause I typed it wrong.. lol.. I ment exposure.
In PS I increassed the contrast a bit (to clear out the haze look)
Then I nudged up the exposure to brighten it up, and finially I adjusted the saturation a little to get the yellow and greens to stand out a bit more.
In all took about 2 min if that.

well i been practicing my editting technique too. still got a long way to go but i try it on the last shot of yours. there seem to be some kind of texture or bunch of lines on your original. anyway i did some clarify. and play with saturation. and sharpen it some. and noise removal.

Yeah, the 'texture/lines' you mention are the back of the deck chair I put the vase of flowers on to get a lighter background than in the first 3 images.

Your pp work is nice - thanks.

You may try compensating in your exposure next time. Overexposing a little would do the trick. That way they look white instead of gray.

Gear: Rebel Xt, 50mm 1.4, kit lens and a good old Pentax K1000 with 50mm.
