Carole King has long, long been a favorite of mine. I have a vinyl album of hers. Hadn't seen nor heard of her for years when she showed up at my venue. Her management made me sign a predatory agreement so they can demand my images for any use without credit or payment. I don't mind ... she has brought a lot of good to the world and continues to do so. If they want my pictures I will ask for credit/payment but if they become jackasses I will likely comply. The world has enough asshats already.

I was allowed first three songs. Carole never moved from the piano stool for the first three songs. There was very little light on the rest of the stage except for her position ... again the casino staff did a magnificent job. The rest of the stage contained two couches and floor lamps. The piano position was such that about half the audience up front could see nothing but her head while she was at the piano. I wanted a shot across the piano top with her there but there was no position to get that ... so, I have a very limited selection of images.

Great set. Tapestry is one of my all-time favorite albums. ... So what three songs did she start with??

Yes, that's what I have in vinyl! :-) But when I am shooting I can't hear so I have no idea.

When I was 14 my older brother came home from med school and we logged all summer. He and I wore out two carol king cassettes. first one, then we bought another and wore that wore out...LOL

You lucky dog. ... I have it in CD. The vinyl sounds so much richer. Why can't you hear when you're shooting??

I apologise in advance to Dwight, but a question like this warrants simply one answer...

Dwight's a male, therefore cannot multitask.

Hen.

Great job!

I can certainly understand that. Those were days of high emotions and energy where everyone was willing to be responsible and work hard and most had lofty goals or none at all. What great memories ... mine and yours.

See correct answer below.

I expect you are exactly correct. Never thought of it like that, but it is the case that when I'm shooting I am all eyes. Besides that I have no memory for names ... I recognize the songs, which I love, but likely couldn't name one!

Super... Absolutely Super... You captured her unlike I've ever seen, and at her best too... I can hear the music... Makes me want to break out a CD and listen to Carole King sing... Her music always means a lot to me. Thanks for sharing this show. I've never seen her live... This set is way, way cool.

I'll have to check your web site from time to time, to get an occasional refreshing glimpse of these shots... :D

Nice set. Some appear a bit on the soft side?
Do something about the blues in the last one. (HSL tab)

Yup, she's super. I had never seen her in person until she showed up. Apparently she's been doing small intimate affairs for Hillary Clinton.

I don't think they're soft ... I imagine it is more the compression and/or that I am having LR sharpen them. As for the blue image, that's the one that DPP did such a nice job on but I couldn't get it the same in LR which is the one I posted ... unless I am going to make a print I don't have the time to give each one much individual attention.

Nice set Dwight,

I don't sharpen in Lightroom, just can't figure out how to make them look as good as when they are brought into Photohop. If Lightroom had a better way to sharpen and a plugin for Noise Ninja I'd save a ton of time in Photoshop!

I don't get it Chris... Why would you want to use Lightroom if you already have Photoshop?
