Powershot A620 banding problem ?

Hi, a friend of mine ask me for a problem he has and I don't know what it could be ...
Here it is one of the images (also with a 100% crop) that has strange bands in a part of it.
Any ideas of what the problem could be ?
It must be said that not all the images coming from that camera are affected by this problem ...

I'd try calling Canon regarding the service notice we've stickied at the head of this forum. Your symptoms look like that would be a distinct possibility.

No; I don't see how it could be the shutter. Banding indicates something with the sensor.
