Looking for a bit of C&C on the following image. Taken at the Top of the Rock with the 10-22 and about 7 images. It needs a bit of noise reduction to take out the worst at the sky, but what do you guys think?

I really like it, apart from a couple of things.

The noise as you say, also there seems to be a bit of distortion, I would try to fix this, but you've also cut off one of the spires. I think I can see some seams as well on the left and halos around the middle tower. Is this an HDR?

What is the rock, by the way?

I dunno about the distortion, I kinda like the effect. Maybe I'll try some stuff and see what it looks like after correction - this is basically what came out of CS3 photomerge :) I see what you mean about the spires though, I think it'll look better with them both cropped out. The trouble was, to get everything the way I wanted it, I had to shoot from a non-central location between the two spires so they're a bit out of the way. There's no HDR here, just really nice light and some long exposures, but it's possible that it didn't merge correctly.

Thanks for the C&C though, I'm always looking to improve.

Yeah, according to the info it's 850ft on the 70th story. This was the very top of the building bar a small hut which has some communications equipment on it. The Empire State is quite a bit taller (it has an observatory on the 102nd floor) but in my mind you get a much better view from here.

Since it has a bunch of comm equipment, do they normally let people up that high to take pictures?

Thing I just noticed. Is there a way to get rid of that brick (I think it is)? Just a thought. ;)

Here's a modified version... haven't taken out the noise yet but there's a crop and I've fiddled with the levels a bit.

The second one looks much better. I was on "The Rock" myself in September, and I thought is was a much better place to shoot from than the ESB. I have some nice shots, but yours are great. Thanks for sharing.

Dave, I guess I'm probably wrong, but I like the first version,(noise aside), it has more of a "drop-off" feel for me.I know the other guys were correct technically, but emotionally the first one gets my vote. Either version would be on my wall in a minute, good luck,Steve B.
