I trolled through my Photobuckets acct today and found these images that I personally like myself - of watches made by independent watchmakers.

The first one here is an interpretive shot worked heavily with PS to reflect my thoughts about this watch - Vianney Halter Antiqua. I actually won first prize with this shot at a watch photography competition here in Singapore.

This picture are amazing.

This type of photography does not interest me at all but I must say it is a pleasure to look at images taken by someone that is clearly a real professional at what they are doing. These are really well done!

Thanks very much for your very kind comments. A famous photographer (for the life of me, his name escapes me at this moment - he has written several books on photography) once said that we must shoot what we love to shoot with great passion, otherwise do not shoot at all. I took that to heart and it made a lot of sense to me. For some reason quite unmeasurable by one's own eyes, others can see your passion in the subject when you do shoot with passion and attention to the details.

So I tell newbies to shoot at subjects they know well, that they like, that they have a passion for and the image will show it. I used to collect watches but now prefer photographing them. I get twice the pleasure with out the cost.

Here is the latest series I just finished processing tonight. Its a DeBethune Dream Watch No.1 that was launched this year at BASEL 2008. Photographed at the premises of the Authorised Dealer that invited me to photograph it. Quite a challenge due to its mirror like surfaces that can cause extreme contrast and of course reflect the photog and his camera. I pulled all the tricks in my bag to execute this dial shot.

POSTSCRIPT - Interestingly, the set of images for this new watch that I published was reported on the WorldTempus site (a brand funded site in French). For those interested to read the report in English, CLICK HERE.

Here is the other DeBethune Dream Watch No.2 I just published tonight. Its a Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon.

I don't see any Breitlings.

Yes, but a lack of macro lens limits things somewhat! Much of it is more 'watch happy snaps' than actual photography.

Yes, a truly good macro lens is essential. But the 100mm macro does very well as a portrait lens as well so its well worth it. If you are using a crop sensor then the 60mm macro is also good.
