Anyone else heard of this beast? 15mp, ISO up to 25,000 (a la the Nikon D3, which I think they're trying to market this against) and 6 fps (thats the key for me, I'd have the 5D right now if it werent only 3fps)

MSRP $3500, worth it if you ask me. It'll let me simplify my kit bag by getting rid of my 17-40, which I really only use at 17mm, and get the 24 f/1.4L, OR, maybe the 24mm tilt shift lens.

Im not too fussed and not looking to pick a fight. I know what is going to happen. Another 30,000 topics will pop up about people regret buying the 5D due to this announcement.

Don't know about 5D II but I think just like prince Charles that is giving the throne to the next generation because of too much time already passed by, may be we directly get a Canon 5D Mk III skipping that long waited, MK II :)

Last rumors collected over here, conversation of main dealers, etc ... states that a new model it will be launched by Photokina (probably presented by August) and it will be ready to be purchased by people just by Christmas time (final November-December). Just the same rumors until here ...

It will be expected the typical leak filtration of specs as soon as the launch date is arriving ... but there are some discrepancies here about the name of the future model .... some people dealers leaks says that internally in the company is coded as "Cobra", but it will be released to the public under the name of 6D ...

.... still many rumors, but it looks like something is moving .... Canon has to react to the Nikon´s line ....

So;a Canon 1000D low entry level is already announced hereby June, 10 th ...
A new Canon XD it will be probably announced by Photokina

Cheers
Juan

I'd rather it keep the codename. I'd totally buy a Canon Cobra.

Good heavens! There will be sno-cones in H*** before Charles surrenders his right to the throne. Granted, he'll be toddling down the coronation aisle, his false teeth will be chattering with excitement, and having to wear extra strength Depends just to get through the ceremony but he is determined to be King.

Queen E. outta step aside and let Charles have a go at it, before he really is too old.

Just my .02
