Hi there!

I've decided to get a WA lens for the G9.
Which one do guys think is the best and why?

- The Canon WC-DC58B (0.75x), no front thread, filters cannot be used
- The Raynox HD-7000PRO (0.7x), 82 mm front thread
- Other options I missed?

I already bought the lensmate grip and adapter, awesome stuff!!!

Pics made with either of these lenses would be much appreciated.
Thanks for your comments.

Greetings Sniffie

I purchased the Canon lens and returned it the same day. Just didn't add enough field of view for me.

Got the Raynox lens and love it. It really boils down to personal preference. My suggestion is to find a good camera store that will let you put them on your camera for a few minutes.

Which Raynox did you get? The 6600 or 7000 series?

Sniffle,

I'm on the road and don't have it with me, but I think it is the 6600. I'll check when I get home.

I have Raynox HD 7000 Pro. It does its job. Since I m not an expert, I cant compare it with the original Canon wideangle.
Here's my confüguration

Here's the problem(vignetting) I had with fotodiox wideangle lens and converter which I returned

Cagatay,

Please would you be able to post some pictures, one with the lens and then one without. Any photo would do, i'm just really interested in seeing the difference the lens makes before purchasing :)

Many thanks

After watching the video i'm not sure what you are expecting.
What you could add to the G9 is a converter, not a lense. Due to it's construction the converter needs an adapter and that one is always (expect the Soligor one, as far as i know) at full zoom length of the lense. It could only be designed for using the lense near full zoom and you will always have what you call "black ring" with the lense at wide angle.
So you are not talking about optical vignetting but physical restrictions of the adapter concept at all, i think...

Piet
