Got my second toke 11-16. It back focuses by about the same but here are a couple shots from the Huntington Library.

nice shots!!!
I am waiting for the lens to be in stock with some of the local dealers around here like Samy's. For now, I got the 12-24 Toke to hold me over until then.
I hope you get your issues resolved.

Nice shots, Tee'! Were these shot at 11mm, 2.8, and handheld?

Both were at 11mm at f4.5, 1/13 for the first and 1/50 sec for the second and handheld. Shooting at f2.8 may not have given enough dof for this shot.

Another poster who just got one also notes a small amount of backfocusing.
I suspect it's a design flaw and not quality control issue. It's not a big deal though.

I just received my Tokina AT-X 116 Pro DX from B&H and I am absolutely thrilled with the results, so far. A couple of observations. The lens is beautifully finished and incredibly rugged. It's a wee bit on the noisy side, but nothing too distracting. It really does open a world of possibilities.

This is a wonderful lens for news photography. The wide angle allows for some pretty cool action shots. I am really happy with this lens!

Here are a few of the painted churches near Schulenberg, TX:

40D, @12mm, f/8, 1/400, ISO 100

40D, @11mm, f/2.8, 1/30, ISO 800

I had the 10-22 before, and the only thing the Tokina really trails is flare resistance. Check out bottom left. I was using the hood.

And near the middle of this one. Sun is behind the tower.

what PP, if any, did you do on those?
I like that f/2.8 shot. I'd like to get this lens to complement my f/2.8 Tamron.

The barrel distortion at 11mm is a bit bothersome, but oh well.
