i've only had the 1.2L for a day and i'll be selling the 1.8. the 1.8 is almost as good as the L; but since i've the L, i'll keep it.
+sharp at 1.8
+focuses very very fast
+small and ligh, easier to handle
+vingnettes, which i like.. :P
-doesn't do f/1.2
-purple fringing, CA wide open
+sharp at 1.2, as sharp as the 1.8 at eq f-stops
+sucks in more light than the 1.8 and eq f-stops and shutterspeeds, might appear so prob cause of a lot less vignetting on the L..
+greater sense of depth..is that due to the f/stop? microcontrast? bokeh? i have no idea..
-sloooow..but fast enough for me.
-huge and heavy, my 5d feels unbalanced w this lens
samples from the 1.8(with 5d), all wide open:
Adrian, this image is absolutely unbelievable. I feel like I'm looking out a window in my laptop monitor at this guy, it's so near to three-dimensional!
I know you shot'em with the 85/1.8 but I'm thinking my L glass will yield comparable results on a proper FF body...My 1D2 will soon be a backup....
I am about $400 away from having saved enough for a 5D...I am soooooo getting one before 19 July when the rebates go off...
