I just insured all my stuff so I had to add up for replacement cost. Didn't even realize I was over $10K now.

Just under $8,000 and proud to say, not a single credit card used.

Clap! Clap! Clap! I'm proud of you. Mine too was bought the old fashion way - Cash!

Bodies, lenses, flashes, strobes, bags, meters, pocket wizards, softboxes, stands, muslin backgrounds, computers, terabytes of storage.....it all adds up.

$20k in 4 yrs.

Too much, as I was reminded about a week ago when adding a lens to my insurance.

Since Mid May of 2007, I have purchased a tad under $18,000 worth of gear. :( I have not even made a dent in that, in return investment from shooting yet. Money is starting to come in, but Summer is usually pretty slow for me :( Luckily, I have sold quite a bit of my gear, that I used till I upgraded, so I have made about 50% of that $18,000 investment back from gear sold. :)

I'm up to $8k in 8 months, but I'm done for a while! (was saving up for a long time, and bought everything fairly recently starting with a 40D late last year)

Found some killer deals on older manual focus film equipment thru the years. When I sold it I actually made money to use towards the digital stuff. i.e., bought a mint/new Canon FD 200mm Macro lens for 80.00 and sold it for 375.00. It would take me far to long to research exactly what my out-of-pocket expense is becasue I would have to go back years and years.

Someone stole all of my photography equipment and replaced it with exact duplicates.

I need to invest some money in the stock market so I can start getting "free" equipment too. :)

My insurance company quoted me at $1.50 for every $100. So a $4,000 camera/lens would cost me $60 a year.

I made an extra $6,400 last year in investments. I should make around $5,400 this year because of the lower interest rates.

What exactly does that cover?

Any suggestions on how to learn more about stock exchange and how to decide which stocks would be right for you?

Sorry for the off-topic interest guys!

Sorry but I dont know at this time. I was only concerned what my premiums would be. I am going to get back with my agent next week to get covered. I am going to go with renters insurance AND with the camera/lens coverage.
Just call your auto insurance agent up and see what he can insure your camera/lenses for. Insurance companies insure anything, not just cars.
