Mods feel free to move to another section if I'm off base in here.
I'm looking at the 40D at B&H for under $1000 with the rebate, and I'm most definitely going crazy. My question is, how long do these rebates last, and when will they get back?
I want a new body and don't have the money...

From Canon's site:

Rebate Valid Dates:
05-18-2008 -- 07-19-2008

Looks like you have a few more weeks to scrape some cash together. ;)

I suppose the rebates in Canada would be better afforded, no? Don't you guys from Canada have to pay taxes, etc., on shipments from the US? Might be cheaper to go with the rebate program in Canada.

Click Here. (external link) Then click on Special Offers/Promotions. If it's still not cheaper, then, B&H et al is the way to go.

For all my fellow Canadians I suggest a review of the information on this website: www.photoprice.ca (external link)

You will find a handy price comparison function as well as a lot of great information about taxes, duties, shipping, etc.

At the moment you can find some good deals on the 40D in Canada, especially with the mail-in rebate. If you want to add some extras like the grip, you should check B&H and Adorama. The grip in Canada is outrageously priced.

I go my 40D and grip from Adorama two weeks ago. The U.S. rebate on the 40D is an instant price reduction; no mail-in required.

Gear: A bunch of Canon stuff and a bunch of old Olympus 35 mm stuff (OM-1, OM-2, etc).

I think the prices on the site already reflect the rebate

I just bought a 40D from B&H. Even after getting hit with HST (Full 14% here in NS) the camera was still $250 cheaper than going to any local shop. (Still $200 cheaper than any Canadian online price I could find)

Using B&H's UPS Expedited you avoid their bullplop 'handling and brokerage' fees too.
