Hi,

As you can see in my signature, I have a fairly modest assortment of lenses. I have a gap between 55 and 70. I'd like to get an uber wide angle at some point, but I don't know if I have the need for now. I use my primes for stop-action indoor sports and social events. The zooms are for every decent lit indoor event and just about all outdoor occasions.

I'm not sure if I should try to fill the gap with a 24-70 or spend that money on the 10-22, instead. Further, I'm still trying to decide if I really want to keep the 3 primes... or sell and get an L prime. Suggestions? Advice?

I like your current setup. The gap between 55 and 70 is not that important in my opinion, so I'd rather add an UWA.

Yes. I agree with Sebastien. Try getting the Canon 10-22mm or Sigma 10-20mm (which I have one).

I have a gap from 40 - 70 (on a crop), and it's still fine! Get the 10-22!

Do you find that the gap from 55-70mm is limiting your photography more than not having ultra-wide?

an option is to trade the 17-55 for a 24-70 or 24-105 and get a 10-22. that way you will only have a 2mm gap!

Exactly what I was thinking!... however, on a 1.6 crop, I'm afraid that the 24-70 is a tad bit long and I don't want to have to switch back and forth often because I do not have a spare body. That and size/weight...

Right now, the 55-70 gap isn't huge... I just can't stop wanting what I don't have...

I was thinking about dropping the 28/1.8 for that reason... not sure how much use it will see.

Shopping is v. addictive isn't it? :)

Well for me, I think 24-70ish gap is important to me. I guess I'm becoming lazier and lazier.

I'm finding myself wanting every lens now. . .

I think what I'll do is get the 10-22 and keep open that gap until I get a fullframe... then I'll get a 24-70 and decide whether I want to keep the 17-55 on the 40D full time or sell it together.
