Helophilus sp. hoverfly on margeurite flower. Still trying to confirm the ID. Quite small at 8.5mm body length.

Toby still haven't confirmed ID- one of the experts on WAB thinks it's just H. pendulus but I'm sure another expert told me thay always have a dark line going from the antennae to the top of the head.

well Stubbs & Falks illustrates all 276 British species, I think pendulus might be correct - although the orange of the abdomen is not shown in the book it does call for at least half the hind tibia to be pale.

I only do careful levels/crop/NR/colorba​lance, if needed. Thats just my philosophy, to each his own.
