Are you using some kind of filter on your lens?

See those lines in the background? It's caused by single coated filters. Usually low end ones. Has something to do with the digital sensor and the filters over the sensor and doesn't do it on film cameras. I had to take all mine off, and haven't had a problem since.

Thanks for the info. When I bought my lense I ordered a nice filter for it and Abe's sent me a really cheap one for the expensive price. I bought one locally but couldn't find the recommended one - any suggestions ? Thanks again.

Could be my processing? I am not very good with that :)

You might only need it for protection, like in shooting paintball. I don't usually use one & the cam has a filter for UV light. I always use the hoods, though, for protection & better contrast.

Love the neck hackles in these shots!

Could be my processing?

No, it's not the processing. Definately from the coatings on cheap filters and some that are not so cheap with supposedly good reputations. I just happened to find some this morning on my 300/4 Prime that has a B&W UV filter on it and hadn't noticed the lines before, but I was shooting through window glass too, so I need to test it some more.

Here's a thread that shows it and discusses it. I'd just take it off and don't use one.

Egg chickens grow much slower and by the time they are big enough for dinner are too tough for my liking. (like shoe leather) ;)

Thanks for the info...the toughest chicken I ate was in Mali, Africa. These were, of course, free range hens that were not fed by their owners. They walked around the village foraging for food. They had to scavenge for themselves. To this day I have no idea how anyone was able to keep track of which hen belonged to whom, but they were able to. So these guys/gals were tough from spending their whole lives walking around (unlike our sedentary caged factory hens). Also they were lean as heck, tasteless. It was almost impossible to pull the leg segments apart, the ligaments/tendons were that strong.
