Male common darter dragonfly. The low power shots were taken during gale force winds yesterday - the dragonfly was perched on a twig about 2 " above the ground to keep out of the wind.
Twin pic are cross-eye stereograms for those that can freeview them

Thanks for the comments all- much appreciated :)

Eugene think the last two are just over 2:1 magnification.

I was very surprised about the stereogram!! I'm used to seeing the old stereograms.Do you have a camera just for that or are you creating this with a regular camera?

Pat

Thanks for the comments all :)

Pat the stereos are just two shots taken with some lateral movement in between.

Love the series, Brian. Excellent, esp given the windy conditions.

Brian, I'm impressed! The lateral movement appears to be very controlled and well done. I guessing the movement is very slight for this type work. Do you have a special widget for this? If so, can you post it? I'd like to try it. I've already got the camera out...

Thanks Bill :)

Pat, No widget - I'm using fixed focus and have just got used to moving the camera roughly the right amount- normally between 5mm and 2cms for macro work. The movement is supposed to be 1/30th of the nearest subject distance. I use a freeware prog stereophotomaker to align the shots, swap them over and add a border. You have to make sure that the elements in the photos are horizontally aligned and also that the stereo window is correct (ie no part of the subject appears to touch the frame).
