Why is everyone going nuts for Eneloops? They're only 2000mah = weaksauce

My charger gives me a rating for what level the batteries were charged to -- and all my Eneloops rate out at 2700mAh or more. They've also performed better for me in my 580EX in cold weather, and seem (no controlled testing) to perform more consistently throughout any given charge.

I've got standard rechargeables, too, but I'd stick with the Eneloops every time given the choice.

Not trying to call you a liar, but that just sounds ridiculous.

But yeah I'm about to have about 10 wizards. Eneloops would be good for that I guess. But flashes that's out of the question, everytime I read about eneloops everyone seems to be using them in flashes which just seems dumb to me especially that's probably the one thing in photographers bags that require the most juice from batteries...

Dunno, maybe I'm just not all caught up in the hype...

Yeah I'm still ordering a few sets of eneloops, but not for my flashes.

Maybe the next time I charge them, I'll take a picture. Could be quite a while though. . . ;)

I can't tell you how many regular nimh batteries I've trashed because I forgot to keep them with some charge in them or didn't charge them enough. If you let them go flat dead, its a problem. That problem doesn't exist with eneloops.

If you use your camera & the rechargeable batteries on a regular basis there should be no issue with letting them go flat dead or unused.

my eneloops also last much longer and recycler noticeably faster in my 430 and 420ex's than do generic some 2700mah batteries i had used extensively before picking up some eneloops - i couldn't believe the difference was so obvious - i had a partially used (not recharged since the last time) set of eneloops sitting for 3 weeks and then used them for 100 shots last night - recycle times staying steady and quick - crazy...

my non-eneloop recharchables have been relegated to my wife's point and shoot :-)

Camera isn't an issue - those are Li-ions that are much better at not self discharging.

I use the flash sporadically and same for other uses with NiMh. That doesn't work and eneloops are a much, much better alternative.

I keep eneloops in my 580EX. I use my flash very infrequently. Only charged them a few times in the 9 months I've had them. When I pull out the flash, it's always good to go. Never had it die on me. Sometimes I'll go a month or more.

i also use a BJC-900 charger and some of the eneloops i purchased have fully charged up to 2.52ma.

i strictly use eneloops in my flashes and they perform great.

a camera , a few lenses, various accessories and never enough time.

You're an ideal candidate for enloops. People who use their cameras regularly shouldn't bother.
