Well, it's not like I'm gonna trade in my 40D. The 15 MP isn't something I really need, and while the ISO expansion is cool, 12800 will look like sand paper I bet.

I'm glad the xxD series finally took a position distinctly separate from the rebel series, in terms of resolution and other features, but especially the resolution.

1-1.5 stop advantage. So 6400 will look like 2400-3200 on the 40D.

So, the question becomes is does this make the 1D MKIII owner mad, to see this camera come out with more MP, faster Digic chip, higher ISO, better LCD, better live view, better dust cleaning? I think Canon is doing a disservice to 1D owners and not upgrading that camera first and focusing on the pro-sumer market.

I have a feeling Canon missed the D700 when planning the 5D MK2, now they are scrambling to make a new autofocus system (that will leave the current 1d focusing woes behind) and rushing to put it in the 5D MK2... Theres going to be a big wait once again for the 5D MK2, thank canon for dragging their ass while nikon has started to gain ground...

Which means ISO3200 should be just usable, and ISO1600 would be very usable. Sounds good to me. It's too bad I spent all my money on a 40D...now I'll have to sell my 20D...or my 40D...

Noise performance won't be anything like the 1D. You know canon.. they won't overstep the boundary..

My guess would be the same price every xxD camera is released at.

Probably not--1D owners buy for their AF and body build mainly. I can see some getting nagged at higher ISO, but that's about it.

I think the resolution and high ISO are both going to be points of contention vs the 1D mk III; but I think that camera could receive some kind of update too.
