Actually, it's 9/15 @ 0913 UTC...

[...]If the original 5D was really discontinued, that sucks a little. i was hoping it would drop in price more and provide an alternative to the astronomical price i'm sure the new one will occupy

There will be at least one remaining 5D hanging around until December*: the First Prize 5D (with 24-105L lens) for the Canon Photography in the Parks Photo Contest. It would not hurt to give yourself a chance to earn one for free (well, not without effort, but virtually free, I guess) by entering the contest. It's not too late!

I have to admit, though, I really don't know which odds are better between winning this first prize 5D, or being able to find a brand new one after the successor to the 5D is made available for sale.

Edit: *I know the contest ends September 30; the prizes, however, will be handed out in December according to the official rules.

Watch it be a replacement for the 1D. Will be back to waiting and anticipating for the 5D. lol

That was my thinking too except for the anticipating part. I'm perfectly happy with my 5D so what ever does eventually replace it, it will have to be head and shoulders above it in IQ and operational flexibility for me to consider it. I'd rather spend my money on more great L glass.

Cheers! :)

LOL...

It doesn't matter if it's visible in the UK...it's simply the moment when the disc of the moon is fully lit by the sun.

It's full (and visible) somewhere on Earth at that time...

If this camera is evolutionary, I'm guessing it records video.

The moon will appear full roughly a day before and after the actual date of the full moon. Festivals aren't always defined with astronomical precision.

Er... I think the rest of the world counts the closest night they can actually see the moon like a real human being.

Give yourself a pat on the back for winning a meaningless argument on pedantic grounds in virtual reality.

I know am going to enjoy the view of the full moon on the night of the 14th.

No, there is a well defined astronomical definition of the full moon and it has nothing to do with where observers are located.

Parties and festivals, however, are very much about that.

The Canon Europe teaser doesn't have a dial on the top, but it definitely doesn't have the shape of a 1D. That COULD MEAN a 5D MkII with weathersealing, which makes ever so much sense on a landscape camera.

There's a good chance that the new camera is building on the 50D with the following premise:

"If we were impressed by the 50D, wait till you see THIS!"

In all honesty however, the next announcement had better be REALLY good or it's going to be a disappointment.
