ok so this time i actually could get up again... but i am curious to hear all about people's most memorable (or most recent) accidents while holding or carrying a camera or other gear. these can include falling, dropping, tripping, throwing/missing... etc
today, at a private baby shower/bbq, i was backing up to fit a shot into the frame; stepped sideways into an unseen child's bike... totally lost my balance and went straight down into the bike; then performed some kind of automatic tuck & roll and ended up lying on my back beside it - while holding my 40D + 50mm! i can vouch for the hand-strap's value: even though my whole right arm went somehow into the bike frame and hit the ground, the strap provided sufficient extra grip that i did not drop the camera or smack it on anything, and the only 'damage' it sustained was a scrape of red paint on the edge of the lens filter. my arm feels bruised and my back is sore, but you can't tell by looking.
this was my first total FAIL at taking a shot, felt pretty stink but very pleased to report such minimal casualty. everyone watching were totally unsurprised to see me raise my camera to eye level while still lying in a heap on the ground to check whether it was hurt!
post your own stories! & include photos of damage/injury if relevant...
