Lol,
As the title implies, how many people (including myself) will now be purchasing a less expensive 5d now that the 5d MkII has been released and soon to hit shelves (3-6 months)?

lol

dude where is the option for just getting the 5D mk II? you're going to get skewed results, since the only thing close is "considering"

The poll is not really to find out who is going to purchase a 5D MkII, its just to see who is goign to purchase a 5D now that the 5D mkII has been anounced...

I'm considering going 5D, waiting a bit to see if the price drops even more. I'd use my 40D for wildlife/sports and the 5D for portaits/events/landscapes

(hey, I can dream, can't I?)

EDIT - Waiting to see reports of how the 50D does with high ISO. Might go that route, then I won't have to ditch my EF-S lenses.

I was going to get the 5D a few months ago when it was "on sale" but figured I'd wait to see what the MkII would bring (or if Canon would even bring it). Now that it's out, I'm really considering it instead.

The 5D price has to go down further.

Ignoring rebates for a minute (they're conditional on this or that. like being a US resident or buying a printer etc).

Currently in B&H the 5D is $2350. Pay out only $350 more and you'll get the 5Dii in a month or so. At that difference I can't see why you'd still get the old 5D, unless you urgently need an economical FF camera before November.

Conclusion - Canon really have to drop the 5D price to say $1800, no rebates.

If used prices on the 5D come to a tempting range, I might be looking for one, but to be honest I'd rather wait, save and get the new camera.

Not enough choices in the poll. "I" have put off going to FF but WILL purchase the new MKII. Where's THAT choice on the poll?

I would definetly get the 5D. Saying that, I would think the price would have to come down a bit. The MkII didn't blow me out of my socks....and the 5D is going to be more than enough camera for me right now....I don't need movies, sensor cleaning or 21.1mp.

Current thought is that its going to list for $2699 body only.....just checked the website of my local dealer and the 5D is $2599. It was on sale for $2149 yesterday and it would seem that the mkII announcement drove the price back up? Whats that about?

The only way I would get a 5D right now is if that price was less than $2000

I have been considering a 5d for a few months now. My 20d would serve as a geat secondary camera. I hate changing lenses, so a 5d will just have to do. hehe

Plus, I owe it to this website for my interest in the 5d. I can pretty look at pictures people post up here and can say " wow, that looks like a 5d shot"
