f.y.i. Billboards are printed at low dpi.. like even 7dpi or 16ish... a 4mp image could even be fine for a billboards due to the distance you are viewing them at.... I don't even think you could work with or save a 300 dpi file in PS at billboard size.

That was a tongue-in-cheek, but it's still good to learn about how these omnipresent billboards are made...

I'm glad the camera was finally announced, but I'll just have to wait and see if it has any of the improvements I was hoping for:

What I could care less about, but have no issue with them being included:

21.1MP
Live View
HDMI out
Video mode

What I'm hoping for:

Even better high ISO performance than the 5D
A camera that sets the standard for DR - Maybe it does, but you certainly can't tell by the poor sample images that have been posted so far.
Improved AF
Improved auto WB
Improved microlens design to reduce the impact of light falloff at the edges of the sensor (hopefully not just some software based approach).

What I'm happy to see:

Sensor cleaning system
Micro AF adjust
Digic 4

There is nothing in particular about the announcement that I am disappointed with. It's just that I've seen nothing so far to prove that some the things I was hoping for are there. I'll just have to wait for DPReview to post their full review of a production model before making up my mind. If I just cared about movie mode, 21MP and a Canon logo I'd be pretty pumped right now!

I hope the 5D II blows everyone away with amazing noise control and focusing despite the specs. I don't know, it just seems like an ignorant move on Canon's part to make their second best line of cameras market strategy the same as that geared with the Rebels and point and shoots. It's not the top of the line but it's still very much a professionally geared camera right? From all the grumbling it's pretty obvious what the pro's think of it already.

Curious as to what people are happy with?.... anything else other than low noise?

After all it is all about the final image and I guess we may just need to "work" a little harder while staying out of harsh weather conditions to capture a great image without fancy AF and higher fps..

Overall I am happy and the price is pretty good.... Low noise at higher iso's was the top of my list but that didn't mean practically ignore everything else..

Actually, the skill level of the grumblers means nothing since:
NO ONE HAS USED ONE YET!

Remain calm and let the early adopters wring it out...

There will come a day when consumers could custom order (like we now do with PCs and cars) the camera with the desired specs from Canon... No more whining then, eh...

If the spot-metering can be linked to the active focus point (like the 1D3) then I'm in! For me, that's the single most annoying limitation of the current 5D.

I read somewhere that it is still linked to the center point only. I believe it was dpreview. I hope it was wrong but probably not.

gee, i don't see seals anywhere! lol. i trust canon people who have tested the seals, whereas you obviously haven't. why would they state their claim of 10mm/3min if it wasn't backed? 10mm/3min is pretty hard (harder than extreme rain according to wikipedia) rain, so i would expect this camera to work if that is what Canon, who made and tested the camera, claims.

prehistoric AF...instead of whining maybe you should make the effort to get your questions answered? this person at dpreview did by asking Canon Tech reps...

I can barely make heads or tails of what you have posted here, but want to point out that Canon USA's website has now been updated to indicate that the Mk II only has ONE cross-type AF sensor.
