A stunning shot. Absolutely amazing.
For the non-Australians it's useful to know that these birds are tiny and, in my experience at least, appear to be on speed. hey are also usually up in the tree tops. I have a job keeping on them with my binoculars let alone photographing the things so I am honestly amazed by how great these captures are.
Can you give us any information on your technique for these Richard?

Cheers

regardless mate, they are excellent captures.
I have one shot of them, and you know how far away that was for my lens, it was at Sandy Creek CP shoot we had.

At the moment these little beauties are all over the Southern Adelaide Hills and they're starting to nest right about now. For these shots I was fortunate enough to find them nesting in a hollow which was only about 2 or so metres above my head. It was just a matter of giving them enough room to go about their business without being alarmed by my presence. :D There was actually about 5 or 6 birds in attendance as these guys are communal nesters, with previous season's young helping out.

I've found plenty of other nesting sites so far, but none low enough to afford anymore shots like these.

Yep, not the closest. Hopefully when we go on our next shoot these guys are still hanging around the same area. :)
