I"m inexperienced (second game I've ever done, and I'm sure it shows). But sure having a blast trying to learn (and always appreciate tips on technique).

Here's a couple of hits I captured a couple of weeks ago:

(These are of the Valdosta State Blazers against Newberry College - Division 2 football):

First is of our (VSU's) receiver getting hit - I was trying to get my picture and stay out of the way:

The Blazers up-ending a punt returner:

1.) Correct your White Balance
2.) You're overexposed on both (at least on my LCD). I suggest dropping exposure by 1/3 to 2/3 of a stop. This will allow you to get a faster shutter speed which would have helped sharpen your first pic (a blurry foot).

Still very nice pics though! You have excellent lighting conditions - I'm jealous ;).

Photographically this is pretty weak but the hit was huge. #13 is the QB and had thrown an interception to #3 in the endzone on the opposite side of the field. #3 made a long return across the field and is at about the 40 when this was taken. #13 was in hot pursuit and not looking up field at all and was whacked!! #13 is 5'11" 170lb and the kid hitting him is 6'5" 260lb. He left the game with a concussion.

OUCH! I can see the end of that play in my mind's eye. #13 whacked his head VERY hard on the turf. Good catch.

Monster block

Took this little sequence from the stands last night. This was probably the hardest hit I have ever seen/heard in person. 87 needed a little help getting up and across the field, but must have shook it off as he was playing in the next quarter. This was on a punt return.

Pretty heavy crops.

Moment of impact.

Sorry for the missed focus on this one, I was still tracking the return man (cropped him out).

Here's the aftermath of a good hit, too bad I missed the hit...

Heavy crops again and didn't bother bringing up the exposure. you get the drift. ;)

So there I was five yards upfield from the line of scrimmage. The RB ran to the flat in the offensive backfield as the check-down option for the QB. With no other options, he floated the ball out to the RB, who was in the open on my side of the field. He made the catch over his outside shoulder, and the very second he turned to make his way upfield, the safety 'lit him up', launching him about 6 feet backwards through the air.

Unfortunately the DBs feet are the most in focus point of the image. :(

I've seen a lot of ugly uni's in my day, but these orange and green monstrosities take the cake! There should be a law against these!

The big hit here is a youth ball ref worn out from all the games he officiated this day :)
Just thought it was funny and brings to mind "were you asleep on that play or what ref"
