I think its a great walk around prime for crop. Lucky for me I cant afford it right now so I have no choice but to sit around and wait for the 35 II http://www.flickr.com/photos/l1ttlegreenman/

They wouldn't update the 24 with a new coating, new switch, etc, and not do its brother the 35. Who knows if it will be a total redesign but since it is coming out AFTER, I'm going to guess yes, it will also be a re-design. ••Vancouver Wedding Photographer

The build isn't as good as a lot of other L primes, it isn't weather-sealed and it could be better wide open - they updated the 24L for less than that.

The 35L is plenty sharp wide open not to mention stopped down, and has fast, accurate AF. As the 35L is my current favorite lens, I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for the Mark II though to see what it has to offer.

I'm sure they can improve the AF of both of the wide primes. ••Vancouver Wedding Photographer

That sucker would have to be a lot better to justify the jump. My personal stuff:http://www.flickr.com/photos/jngirbach/sets/

Optically, the 24L II is only a wee bit better than the Mk I (according to the mft charts) Regards, Gareth Cooper GMCPhotographics
