Just two more DF pics that I took with the 24-105 before I put the macro on. Again, I was pretty pleased with the clarity of these for this lense.

Pics are cropped of course, but I thought the colour and detail was rather nice.

Hi Mark - oooh, thanks so much for your very kind comment :D

This was a classic friendly little darter sitting on a wooden bridge on Sunday, he stayed quite a while as we watched him and I photographed him - a real sweetie :D

Lovely shots Linda - think I would have left them a bit more room in the crop ? but certainly show good detail.

Great photos Linda.

I have loads of darter photos to process - was at Thursley a couple of days last week (and also in Bushy Park at the w/e) but busy at work so havent had the chance to download them onto the computer never mind sort thru them.

Also have been told of a couple of new sites (to me) - shame it is so late in the dragon season as I am struggling to get time to visit them at the moment.

Hi Brian - thanks very much :D Yes, was very pleased with how these came out, really pleased with this lense so far, I just need to get some practice in now with some wider angle shots of things.

Hi Linda, Still a lot of Black Darters around alongside the Common's. Both species were see oviposting. There may be also some Ruddy Darters as well but I will have to look at my photos and books to see if they were actually Ruddy or Common. There were still some of the hawkers around, as well as a Golden-ringed that I managed a couple of photos of.

Chobham Common is one of the sites, a site that is mentioned in the Dragonflies Of Surrey book, but I have always stuck to the sites I know. Apparently the site is nearly as good as Thursley and well worth a visit.

The other site is Shepperton Ponds which I have never come across before. Handy for me as I work 10 minutes away in Walton-on-Thames. Would have been good to get down there at lunch today given the weather we are currently having, but work gets in the way.

Stephen
