What price do you all predict the 5D (new) will get down to before it's discontinued or not widely available?

I think it's going to be around $1900, but with a decent rebate/double rebate who knows...might turn into a steal!!

Yeah- I'm thinking I'll stick to my original plan of getting a 5D when the 5D II lowers prices, as tempted as I am by both the 5D II and 50D.

The unknown is COST from Canon Japan to its distributors, and in turn to retailers. Cost from distributor + 10% I think would be near bottom.

At this point in time it is all speculation. The only people in a quandry now are those wishing to sell a original 5D. How the up coming release will effect used prices. The new price will be controlled by demand and inventory I suspect.

I have been looking at the 5D prices in Japan through Kakaku.com for several weeks, and before the announcement of 5dmkII the prices were like cut in stone. Last week prices started to drop almost daily! I'm visiting Japan in few weeks and plan to buy one :D

The 5DmkII from the same search is a lot cheaper than the european prices...

Well, of course...the European countries impose various taxes on top, like VAT. Which is also why gasoline is more expensive there, too.
