I'm fixing to buy a 17-55 f/2.8, but first I have to sell a lens or two to help make up the price.

I'm gonna try "Well, I think I'm going to do some lens trading..."

Dunno if it'll work but it sounds innocent enough, doesn't it?

The "I saved $### at B&H" phrase won't work with most wives. They are well aware of what the "I saved" line really means. After all, most of them are the real shoppers.

Not only that, but we've been married for 39 years and I daresay she has me thoroughly figured out.

No excuses needed here.

Today I went in to my local camera shop to pick up my pre-ordered
50D and my hubby was already in there :)

Fortunately he was looking at backpacks and he was surprised to see me. But happy when I told him I was buying the camera.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

Yeah, ok, here's an actual quote from me to my wife.

" "

But, when it comes up, I say crazy things which are (as a joke) exactly like what she says when she buys something.

Oh, that's funny! I can imagine most folks response to finding their significant other in a camera store....

"But honey, I was just looking!"

Or "Hon, I've decided I'm going to reduce my lens collection..." sounds pretty safe.

"Hey honey I am looking at this new <insert gear here> and the discount is unbelievable.....I'll go ahead and order it while you go get that <insert whatever she has been wanting>"

I'll get a roll of the eyes, but it is usually mitigated when she grabs the purse and heads into town to get her gift.

That's used on big ticket items. Small items I just buy it and go on....better to ask for forgiveness than permission.
