Thanks everyone! It's SUCH a step up from my S5 IS! Not sure if it's my eyes messing with me, but I find it a little harder to see through the viewfinder... a lot of the things that are clear, seem blurry.

Reading this just a thought check the diopter setting on your viewfinder if your eyes are not 100% it will show up in this area.
This is a great camera and surprisingly now that the 50d 5dmk11 are in the mix hardley any ra ra comments about focus and the color of each setting etc, etc, etc.
I will quote a pro who spoke to me about my 40d he said great camera just learn how to drive it, and in fact in a little over 3 months that i have owned the 40 d the IQ that i am producing is just brilliant so go take some great shots and enjoy your new camera

the first and last manuel ive ever read was the "how to get gf to work properly" manual, and im STILL only on chapter 1 of 200,000 ;)

the manual is the first thing i set aside, i want to pick up my new camera gear in my hand, not the book!

my brother is the opposite way, with a video game he takes to booklet out and hands me the case with the game and says i can play it for a few hours till hes done reading it...
