Hey guys... new to the forum, new to photography... new to just about everything i guess....
I recenty took a trip out to Whidbey Island in Washington and snapped a couple pics, i guess i'd like some input or compliments or even criticism i guess...

taken with the Canon XSI kit lens @ 47mm shot in .jpg on a really really crappy tripod. I didn't edit it in photoshop.

the first shot is lacking in a clear center of interest... nothing there for a viewer to look at and say, that's a photo of ____ .... and the horizon appears tilted a bit to the right. you always one a clear focal point, something for a viewer's eye to latch onto as a point of interest.

the second shot is a nice woodland scene, but again, not a lot of interest there, unless the viewer is into tall trees. on the other hand, there's a definite sense of being alone in the wilderness that appeals to woodsy sorts like me.

both images seem a bit on the dark side, and would benefit from some careful post processing to brighten up the shadow areas.

Welcome Fellow Washingtonian to the forum! What part of the state do you live in? I live up here in Burlington. :)

I like your photos. :) People just can't believe how rich and beautiful the skies and water can be here in Washington. :)

The woods photo is a tiny bit dark, but you and I both know how dark the woods can be here in our state. :) (especially when it's raining! :( )

wow is my face a little red, i'm actually not from Washington. I'm from California and i'm currently goint to school @ UCR... at the south end of the state none the less...
My mom's side of the family owns property up on Whidbey Island and a few times a year i visit, get to fish and just relax in the woods. It's quite theraputic.

No problem my friend! You are close enough to being a Washingtonian! ;) :) Never the less, I enjoyed your photos. :)
Whidbey Island is a really cool spot to visit and it's just a hop skip and a jump for me! :)
