I am looking for a source to buy CANON lens parts, e.g. the main PCB and some lens elements of the 28-70L .

I do not want to send my lens in, since I have a guy who can repair lenses, but i need a source to get the parts from.

Does anyone know a place who sell CANON parts ... since these parts are light, i do not mind getting these from the US, or UK, or ... any other place.

BTW i am located in Hong Kong.

If this is sensitive ... a pm to me will be also very much appreciated! :D

You'd have to find some repair house that would be willing to sell you the parts. From my experience, manufacturers generally don't sell anything they classify as a part to the general public.

Not sure where you can get the parts, but I did find this.

Maybe identify the part and give Canon a call.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

I tried to call several authorized Canon repair shops in the USA, but they are only allowed to repair and NOT SELL parts ... :(

Ebay is not a good source...
A lot of sellers sell waterdamaged parts (often even SALT water), and most bidders buy these parts at premium prices because they want to claim their insurances pretending that they accidently dropped these lenses!

these guys advertise canon parts, but their list of lens parts is pretty small - might be worth contacting them though.

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Canon indeed WILL sell you parts directly. Here's the # to Canon Parts: (732) 521-7230

They are friendly, and will ship quickly. Now, whether you can get the right part, I don't know. I ordered focusing screen shims for my 30D through them, and they didn't cost much, and I had them two days after I placed the call. They will ship to anyone in the US...you'd have to see if they will ship to Hong Kong. If not, I'm sure there's a Canon parts center in Japan that might be willing to ship to Hong Kong.

yes, but what you bought are simple accessories. OP is looking to buy lens elements; you think there is an chance of that?

Ah...missed the lens elements. The PCB, you could probably get...even the mount, the USM rings, the grip, probably all of that. The elements will likely NOT be sold as parts.

I just gave them a call and yes, you can buy all the Canon parts through them! Even the lens elements, however, the parts do not come cheap!

But anyway, it is a good source for parts, thanks for the suggestion!
