What, from your actual personal experience, do you consider to be the best "landscape" lens for a crop camera, and why?
Thanks.

Hmmm. I think I would say the Canon EF 17-40L. The range is the most needed for landscape work, the lens is very sharp with great color, contrast and flare resistance.

I use a Canon 5DIII and a Sony A7rIII

depending on your preferences I would say the 10-22, 17-40L, or 16-35L (too expensive to make full use of on a crop "my opinion")

The Tamron 17-50 is sharper than the Canon 17-40 and 2.8 in all the range. Oh yes cheaper too...

If your a fan of wide, my vote is for the 10-22. Here are two examples why I love this lens, both at 10mm.

I agree with JeffreyG. I haven't done a survey of the whole range of options, but my 17-40L is to my mind the perfect landscape lens for a 30D. Though people may believe other lenses to be sharper, the difference must be small because my 17-40 is very sharp indeed.

Some people swear by ultrawides, but for general landscape work they are TOO wide in many cases. Don't be lulled into thinking the wider the better.

I would get the 16-35 f/2.8 if you have the funds for it.

17-55 IS for me. landscape extends all the way from ultra wide 10mm, to compressed landscape at around 70-100mm for me. I would certainly not find and ultra wide like the 10-22, or even worse 11-16 an ultimate landscape lens. but again, you may like the wider end or longer end. there is no right or wrong landscape focal length.

If you look at the link in my signature, most images (not all) were taken in that range.
hope thats helpful

You should realise that on a cropped 1.6x 30d camera a 17-40L is about 28-65mm. So it is not exactly a wide angle as opposed to the 10-22mm. I think the 17-40L is a nice lens. But for landscapes, the 10-22efs is stunning.
