this is my first time doing an e-session. it was for my brother and i thought it went alright. i found i need to invest in a flash to really get some nice portraits though. weather was overcast and quite dark. let me know how these turned out.

#3 is a winner!! You should blow that sucker up for them and frame it just as a gift.... it will work to both party's benefits!

#3 is really nice, but I would have liked to see them not so centered. First two shots could use a bit of fill light in the eyes. First shot needs the bottom cropped, IMO.

Otherwise, nice job! I'm sure they'll be happy! ;)

collier - thanks for the input. #3 i tried an off center crop, but it just didnt work for me. it could use a tighter crop i think and take some bushes out, but than i lose the arch. how would your crop #1? if you would take the time, just go ahead and post it.

thanks everyone! they got back to me and really liked them as well. the ones in this park were their favorites.

Just try a simple crop at the waist. You could remove their jeans and it wouldn't hurt the composition at all. In fact, if you crop it just below her elbow, it eliminates her, ah, ... sweater bunching at the waist... ;) And they'll like it more!

i guess i should get going on a nice print of #3 as a gift for them. do people like a matte print and nice frame or would something like the stretched canvas be appropriate here?
