If it's under warranty maybe Canon will do something about it, if not try to accept it and not let it bother you. It is easy to shop out but still, who wants to have to shop out a pixel in every picture? Whats with the monitor reflection on the top left? Is that on the wall or is that the lens doing something funky?

I paid around $1100AUD for my XTi in Dec 06' (from a store which boasted an average price). That equated to around $800USD, taking into account currency conversion at the time. And gear Down Under is more expensive than in North America. What's this 'Gold Warranty' thing you bought? Oh well, hard lessons are learnt - i.e. do lots of research before you plunk down the cold hard green. Exactly and where are you gonna get it? Technically it's not a 'failure' and Canon would tell you the same thing. To be honest I wouldn't bother. A few hot pixels isn't considered a 'fault'. Col | Flickr

I'm guessing posting I've been ripped off is a telltale sign the OP knows they've been ripped off Canon 40D

You should have done more research on the camera and where you bought from. How can you not? Are you rich? It was never worth $2000 to begin with, and it comes with a warranty, even if it's short.

You take off the lens, screw in your lens mount cap, then go into Manual Sensor Cleaning, then turn off the camera and then run a test. Repeat if stuff still shows up. This has worked for me with a couple of hot pixels on my (then brand new) 40D.

Well, you don't have a $2000 camera. You may have paid that for it but it is more like a $400 camera and then there's that fact that all cameras have them. If you look closely you'll see that most cameras will have up to a dozen or more.

What should I do ? 1: ive been ripped off , as i paid 2000$ for the XTI 2: they requires examples and proof of failure... 3: they need to analyze the proofs and the camera. This is REALLY starting to PIS* ME OFF I bought my XTi new in Montreal in late 2007. I got the body, kit lens, Extreme III 2.0, a spare battery and a bag, and even with the taxes I still paid well under $1000. Gear: Canon R10, Canon RFS 18-150, Canon RF 100-400

I am still @ a lost on how you can pay that much! Oh Hai!
