Endlessdream, this is beautiful. How did you get the halos around the rocks?

Thanks..Used the long shutter speed and the pop-up flash. I like the frozen drops of water around the rocks, despite the long exposure..

Man, I'm really jealous. My 50 isn't nearly as sharp as some of yours. :( I almost want to send it into Canon to have it re-calibrated with my 20D.

This is my first ever picture post, I am new to photography as well so please be gentle with me.
Anyway this is my cat, it's a shame I chopped his ears off but hey ho. I really like this lens :)

Sorry not worked out how to add EXIF data yet, i'll have a read, taken with a 350D at f1.8, 1/125sec, iso 400, only pp was to add a border and remove some fluff from his head.

nice job lorna - dont see it as chopping his ears off - see it as a tight crop on the face lol

I'm about to receive my 17-55 f/2.8, should I still buy the 50 f/1.8 just in case I'm doing indoor shooting? I cant jusitfy spending on the f/1.4 since I doubt that I'll be using this lense that much.

ive got both, and use both for different things
wouldnt be without either

Measily amateur here, but I was very happy with the result I got here. The scene was pretty dark to begin with... late afternoon, surrounded by dense pine forest. I added the use of an ND 4 filter to achieve this 3.2 sec., F11 exposure. If I want a good shot, the 50mm is what I rely on. What do you think?
