Depending on where you live, there may be a dealer near you that has them.

If you go to a Rosco dealer, they'll probably just give you some. Or you can email Rosco Canada and ask.

I stopped by a local Rosco dealer this afternoon and they happily handed me a catalog and two swatch books.

I guess now I need a second flash.

...and a second radio receiver.

...I hate this hobby. =)

Rosco has several distributors in and around Philly. Take a look at their dealer locator (external link) and see if you can stop in and pick up a book at one near you.

I emailed a couple semi-local places over the weekend (Saturday I think) and finally got a response from one yesterday saying they'd be happy to send me a swatchbook... so hopefully I'll get at least one :)

I took a shot at a DIY gel holder tonight and am pretty happy with the results. You might recognize the materials.

IMAGE: http://btk.smugmug.com/photos/411585367_fhp2b-L.jpg

Yeah. It's a lobotomized Sto-fen. =)

The gel (Rosco brand sample) is wider than the inside of the Sto-fen, so it must be bent to fit inside. This solves the problem of the gel from resting on or being too close to the strobe head and prevents any sort of melting or fusing-to-the-flash-head funny business.

By pulling the Omnibounce out a quarter-inch or so, you get a little lip inside that keeps the edges of the gel from sliding out of the enclosure so you could aim the strobe downward. Upside down or any steep angle will let gravity take over, though, so I'm considering making two narrow slits in the sides of the Omnibounce so that the gel can also go straight through the sides of the diffuser and still be held in place.

...and the results...

Also, WTB Sto-Fen Omnibounce for a 580EX II. ;)
