I just got the 40D about a month ago. Great camera. Aside from the micro adjustment I just didn't think the 50D was enough to justify the extra $.

Classic. Attack Phil, rather than the merits of the review itself. Do you have any evidence at all that Phil prefers to be able to use pre-production models and that the lack thereof influenced the 50D review? Gear list

Or do people actually prefer the 40D over the 50D regardless of price? For me it's the money issue. Not that I'm lacking money, I just have other things that I'd like to save up for instead of the 50D (35L, etc.). At 40D bodies going for nearly half the price of a new 50D, there are just not enough new features on the 50D to keep me interested. I've shot with the 50D, and it's a great camera. If someone were to offer me a straight trade for my 40D, I'd jump on it in a heartbeat, but as things stand now, for what 50Ds are going for, I'd rather take another $200 and buy a second hand 5D. I have read all your "expert" comments about the 50d, but it still seems the best buy. Noise is not as bad as some of you report, and 15 meg is not too many pix for a crop camera. Some of you remind me of a friend of mine who will only use a Pentex spotmatic. If you are serious, it is the 50D. Think about it, is Cannon into losing their customers.
