I bought Mrs. Laszlo an 1100is. She likes it fine. But I don't. Reason being is that it is too small for my Fred Flintstone hamburger hands. Pics are fine. Theres just nothing to grip onto. Having a camera the size of a deck of cards is handy, but also very frustrating for me.

Do they make anything that will help me. Something that will screw into the tripod mount. Is there some knid of grip available?

Just a A590is w/ chdk and a few scripts.

you can try mounting the camera on a tripod and hold the tripod with your free hand...

Maybe its time to buy Mr. Lazlo a camera that he's comfortable with?

Look at those hands:

Big and powerful they are to grasp his crutches and move himself around because his legs can not withstand the body’s weight.
Nevertheless, those big hands are delicate, precise and fast enough to play the violin like nobody else in the world can do. His name is Itzhak Perlman.

Pay close attention to your movements, probably, with a bit of practice, you will find the way to handle the camera appropriately, no matter the size of your hands.

The bigger DSLR may be initially easier to hold, but they also have tiny buttons with small separation among them.

Good luck

You might look at a tabletop tripod. Folded up, It'll be a reasonable handgrip for your left hand. But like Rafael said, there's no substitute for learning how to hold a specific camera.

I had the same issue. Wife wanted a small compact, but they were difficult to handle for me. I ended up getting her an SD870IS and me a G9. The G9 fits my hands much better.
