I rented this recently and I was a bit skeptical because I got it at night and I had only gotten to try it indoors, with nothing to look at but the preview. The next day I went to the zoo, under this amazing soft light, and I was like, "Whoa".

My first L that I've had the opportunity to use-right now I'm shooting for the IS version, but I gotta say wow. Excellent choice.

Are you talking about the 70-200 zoom? This is the prime lens, and there is no IS version of it. I'm waiting/hoping Canon decides to add that to this lens.

Congrats on the new baby! Mind if I borrow it and test it to compare with my 70-200f4is? :)

Man the IS version is thousands more! No way I'd ever be able to afford it! But i have the 200 2.8, I was going to sell it for the f/4 IS zoom but couldn't. I love this lens way too much!
