I noticed something this morning which I found disheartening:

http://www.tamron.co.jp …lease_2008/0901_b001.html (external link)

On that announcement it says for Nikon. It says nothing about Canon version. We may be in for a longer wait that I'd like.

Amazon has the Canon mount for $499 shipping in 3-5 weeks.

Hi all,

New here to the forum, so this is my first post :-)

Just ordered my Tam 10-24 yesterday here in Poland, will come
tomorrow, price was 1400PLN which is around 460USD I guess,
most luxury items here like that cost much more.

I freind of mine in Germany says that Photokina have showed this
lens as best lens of the year, so I guess its at least not bad *lol*

Couldn't wait for availability and reviews. Received my Canon 10-22 yesterday. Just shooting around the house and neighborhood, I am, so far, very impressed.

I can't get over how light it is and the construction could inspire more confidence.

The upside... less weight in the backpack ;-)a

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.

I can't wait for user reviews to start pouring in on the Tamron. I held out as long as i could, but ended up getting a Tokina 12-24mm instead.

The link has this line in RED font:

Designed for Exclusive Use for Canon and Nikon (with Built-in AF Motor) Small Sensor DSLR Cameras

Then at the bottom (next to compatible mounts) it cites:

For Canon, Nikon, Pentax, and Sony

They might release the Nikon variant first (they released the Canon variant of the 70-200 long before the Nikon), but it seems clear that an EF-mount version is in the works.

Hopefully this lens matches the IQ of Tamron's 17-50. It seems to look a little nicer than the 17-50, although obviously build quality is hard to determine from pics. I'm looking forward to some reviews.
